Then rub the silver with the polish using a straight back and forth motion. The proportions are not crucial but about 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of baking soda to 3 dl water should do the trick. Saturate a cleaning rag with vinegar and wipe down the metal. Use firm pressure and be careful to keep the vinegar off the lampshade when possible.
Once you ve gone over all of the silver rinse it off with water and then dry it with a soft clean cloth. Wipe down the metal parts of the lamp with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. If the rust persists add a small amount of baking soda to the rag and use this to scrub.
